Stolen Focus: Why You Can't Pay Attention—and How to Think Deeply Again (Action Network Live! webinar)

Mar 2022 🇺🇸 Fairplay (Children's Screen Time Action Network)

Fairplay — the children's advocacy nonprofit formerly known as the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood — invited Hari to discuss Stolen Focus with its Children's Screen Time Action Network in this March 2022 webinar, moderated with the group's executive director and its Action Network director. The conversation centers squarely on children: Hari describes what he calls the illusion of multitasking, discusses the 'switch-cost' research he cites linking task-switching to weaker learning, and talks through how a screen-saturated daily environment intersects with attention development in kids specifically, alongside what he sees as viable collective responses from parents, schools, and platform design. TechKids Foundation includes this appearance because, unlike most of Hari's press for the book, it was organized by and for a children's-advocacy audience rather than a general one.
