Predatory Behavior Toward Teens Evident in Former Facebook Executive's Testimony
In May 2025, the law firm Motley Rice — court-appointed co-lead counsel in the federal multidistrict litigation consolidating personal-injury lawsuits over social media's association with adolescent mental-health harm — published a piece arguing that Sarah Wynn-Williams' Senate testimony corroborated the plaintiffs' claims. The firm characterized her account of Meta identifying and monetizing teens' emotionally vulnerable moments as consistent with what it called the 'exploitative, profit-driven design' at issue in the litigation. This is a law firm's advocacy characterization of testimony given in a separate congressional proceeding, not a court finding or ruling. TechKids Foundation presents it as an example of Wynn-Williams' account being cited as supporting evidence in ongoing litigation over social media's association with teen mental-health harm, rather than as an independent legal or clinical conclusion of our own.
