Reset Your Child's Brain: A Four-Week Plan to End Meltdowns, Raise Grades, and Boost Social Skills by Reversing the Effects of Electronic Screen-Time

Jan 2015 🇺🇸 New World Library

Reset Your Child's Brain is child psychiatrist Victoria Dunckley's 2015 parenting book, built around what she calls Electronic Screen Syndrome: a pattern of irritability, meltdowns, poor focus, and disrupted sleep she associates with heavy use of interactive screens in some children. She proposes a four-week 'electronic fast' — removing all interactive screens for several weeks — as a way for parents to observe whether a child's mood and behavior shift once screens are removed, before pursuing other evaluation. The book draws on her clinical caseload rather than a formal research study, and frames screen reduction as one tool among several for parents dealing with dysregulated behavior, not a stand-alone diagnosis or a replacement for professional care. TechKids Foundation includes it as the most widely read statement of Dunckley's clinical framework, translated into at least a dozen languages since publication.
