Ian Russell
Bereaved-Parent Campaigners Β· Molly Rose Foundation
Founded the Molly Rose Foundation and helped shape the UK's Online Safety Act.
Ian Russell founded the Molly Rose Foundation, a UK charity focused on suicide prevention and online safety for young people. His public advocacy is widely credited with helping shape the UK's Online Safety Act, which sets new legal duties on online platforms regarding harmful content. Russell was appointed MBE in 2024 in recognition of this advocacy work. Through the Molly Rose Foundation, he has continued to press regulators, platforms, and lawmakers for stronger safeguards for children and teenagers online, and the foundation now operates as an ongoing policy and prevention organization rather than a one-time campaign.
Suicide and self-harm are complex and never caused by one factor alone. Problematic screen use, cyberbullying, harmful content, and online exploitation may increase risk or intensify existing distress. If someone is in immediate danger or emotional crisis in the United States, call or text 988.
